The Paperless Concept - History

The Conventional and Manual way

image
> Optical shops use conventional customer record cards and carbon-copy receipt books.
> Problems with keeping hardcopy records are endless: misfiling of cards, storage space issue and lost cards.
> There are some practice management software available in the market, but fully converting daily operations to paperless was not successful.
> Some systems were designed merely as a database for updating of records.

The beginning of the Paperless Concept
image
> Frontwave released its first version of Visual Optical RMS.
> Besides providing sales, inventory and customer management, the breakthrough was eliminating the annoying paperwork.
> For the first time, (Customer Record Cards) and (Carbon-copy Receipt Book) were fully converted to paperless operations.
> Although some opticians and optometrists were not used to "not having" physical information on their hands, they knew that keeping electronic data is the way to go.
> Over the next few years, many optical shops gradually adopt Visual Optical RMS.

Pocket PC - Our First "Mobile" Paperless Concept
image

> Frontwave introduces it's mobile application on the Pocket PC.
> The concept was to enable opticians and optometrists to have hands-on information on a mobile device.
> Another objective was to cater to peak hour crowd where one computer is insufficient to handle the sales volume.
> However, the Pocket PC concept was not well received as the device battery life is short, screen size too small, and writing on the pocket pc was not an easy task for many.
> During that time, the only alternative was the Tablet PC; but the cost, size and weight of the device was not suitable for the intended usage.
> The Paperless "on-hand" Customer Record Card remains a dream for optical store owners. Well... we tried our best.

... little did we know that a magical device (iPad) will be released a few years later.

iPad Module - a Dream Come True.
image
> Frontwave is the first & only Optical Software Provider in Asia to design & develop an iPad application to serve as a fully paperless platform.
> With the iPad Technology, Frontwave puts information back onto the hands of opticians and optometrists.

> The Full Mobile Paperless Concept was now realized.
> The iPad is thin, light, has a big screen, and a 10hr battery life.
> The iPad device was the only missing piece in making the Full Paperless Concept come true.
